Editor's note: Reb Zalman says of this niggun: This is a great niggun of longing. We know that Ahron of Karlin I composed this in the lifetime of his rebbe, the Maggid of Mezritch, because Reb Ahron died before the Maggid [the same year]. And he also made a poem called, Yah Ekhsof Noam Shabbat, "Oh God, How I Long for the Shabbat," and I translated this into English. Reb Ahron's version is hard to sing in Hebrew beceause it doesn't have any rhyme or rhythm to it. So I set it to a rhyme and a rhythm in English so that it could be sung to this melody of his that I first heard in Lubavitch
